Cowboys Bounced

Big Easy

Big D

42-17

Not much to say here.  I had some stuff to write up here, but what can you say.  Worst tail-thumping in a long-time.  Completely out of the game before the final quarter begun.  Simply nobody played well and nobody coached well.  I believe the absence of Greg Ellis is really raising its head on the defensive side of the ball as there is no pass rush outside of Demarcus Ware.

Perhaps I will post more on it tomorrow, but outside of Julius Jones and Terry Glenn nobody else played well in the entire game, and the coaching staff was out-manned. The only bad thing I might say about Sean Payton was his choice to call an onside kick up by 18 points late in the Third Quarter.  It did seal the game, but their offense was unstoppable at that point, it seems they could have played it straight up.
The only fun fact is that with Deuce McAllister and Terry Glenn I made the Finals of my fantasy league.  I needed Terry Glenn, Deuce McCallister, Antony Henry and Thomas Jones (tomorrow night), outscore Brady James by 3 or more points.  Since I never even heard Brady James name called, I think I won convincingly.

Automatica Gramatica

Dallas Cowboys 23 New York Giants 20

Who would of thunk it? All you can do is heap accolades on Bill Parcells once again for making the decision to cut Mike Vanderjagt and sign Martin Gramatica. Would Vanderjagt have gone 3-4 today? Quite possibly, but I would not have counted on it. Even moreso, I would have had no faith that he could have hit a 46-yarder with 6 seconds left on the clock, dead solid perfect. So the Cowboys who did not play really well still managed to win a tough game on the road 23-20 in New York. This puts the Cowboys up 2 games in the Giants with 4 games left. With three of their last four at home, the NFC East Crown is for the Cowboys to lose.

Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis cringed any time the future of maligned Pro Bowl safety Roy Williams came up this offseason.

Often, Ellis has been asked this spring whether Williams would be cut or traded.

During a radio interview with Sirius Satellite Radio on Thursday, Ellis did his best to defend Williams—although his defense seemed to corroborate the criticism that follows Williams.

Ellis said Williams was not a good fit in Dallas in Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense and that Williams said as much before the season.

"It bothers me when people criticize Roy," Ellis said. "I was trying to give Roy the benefit of the doubt and let everyone know that he told me before the season that the defense didn't fit the type of player he was.]]>

HBO, NFL Films to tackle Cowboys training camp again (AP)

In this Aug. 12, 2007 file photo, Adam

T.O. and maybe Pacman, Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson and, of course, smiling billionaire Jerry Jones. Put 'em all together in a hotel an hour outside Los Angeles and you could have quite a soap opera. Or, HBO predicts, one heck of a reality series. The cable network is bringing its "Hard Knocks" franchise back to Cowboys training camp this summer, and HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg already is...

Cowboys to be featured on "Hard Knocks" (PA SportsTicker)
For the second time in six years, the Dallas Cowboys will be featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks."
